The History of Fairfield Baptist Church
1885-Present
Fairfield Baptist Church is known as "a family" whose history is rich and full of God's blessings. Fairfield was organized in 1885 and has grown tremendously. The following is a synopsis of our history. We invite you to click below and learn how God has blessed our church over the past 116 years.
- 1885 - 1960's
- Fairfield Baptist Church organized
- Church purchased first organ
- 1970's
- Rev. C.L. Nall, Fairfield's fourth pastor, retired after 37 years of service
- Rev. Micheal Benton called to pastor Fairfield (June, 1977)
- Fairfield began holding regular church services every Sunday
- 1980's
- Land purchased for our present church site.
- Previous sanctuary expanded
- 8:00 am Sunday Service organized; Now known as the 7:30 service
- Members marched into present sanctuary (April, 1989)
- 1990's
- Pastor Benton became first full-time pastor
- All church debt was retired
- Purchased 20 additional acres of land
- 47-passenger motor coach purchased
- First Watch Night Service held
- Ground Breaking Ceremony Held
- Began Three Sunday Worship Services
- Membership grew to over 1,000 members
- Fairfield's Summer Camp Program established
- 2000's
- Membership numbered over 2,500
- Acquired additional properties on Redan Road and Young Road
- Established Computer Learning Center
- Completed Construction of Life Center and Administration Education Building and dedicated April 2002
- Launch Fairfield Baptist Church Web Site
- Sponsored the "FBC Kingdom Voices Toastmasters International Club"
- Established 501(C)(3)
- Open doors to Church Library
- Established "FBC Teen Enrichment Program"
- Established "FBC Family Life Center after School Program"
- Purchased 55 passenger motor coach
- Purchased additional 16 passenger van
